BEVERLY HILLS, CALI  A police investigation has opened after reports of students making fake nude photos of their classmates surfaced. The student in question went to a middle school in the Beverly Hills area.

The deputy city manager, Keith Sterling, announced that students at Beverly Vista Middle School are being investigated by authorities for using artificial intelligence to create nude images of other students rather than sharing those pictures with each other.

Parents were sent home a letter from the district superintendent last week letting them know about the incident and that school officials were aware. Some of the parents and students from the school district told NBC News that they were afraid to go to school.

This is not the first AI-generated nude photo incident to happen; multiple of the same incidents have happened at high schools across America.

According to NBC News, intellectual software has the capability to undress or nudify photos. It can even use a face swap tool to swap a person’s body for nude content. This has led to people using the software to target women. Police have not made any arrests at this time.
