Tesla: Its vision and ambitions

If you haven’t heard about Tesla, it is probable that you have been living under a rock. Ladies and gentlemen, I’m here to once again, explain why Tesla is going to have a huge role in our coming years and will have a major role in our fight against global warming.

As you know, Tesla is an electric car company based in Palo Alto, California. Its chief executive officer (CEO), Elon Reeve Musk, is one of the reasons why Tesla has become so valuable today. We are not talking about a normal CEO, we are talking about a visionary who founded PayPal, is experimenting with rockets (by the way, he launched 2 NASA astronauts successfully into the International Space Station earlier this year), and is working with Neuralink, a device that will be implanted in your brain in order to detect the waves your brain gives off and devise possible treatments to serious mental illnesses.

Anyways, we are getting too off-topic here. I’m here to talk about Tesla. As you know, they have revolutionized the electric vehicle, making it both luxurious and accessible to almost anyone. Its main goal is to help the transition of gasoline cars to electric cars, which according to the Environmental Protection Agency, makes up about 28% of US carbon emissions.

Not only has their work as automakers been outstanding, but also has become a role model for other companies. Their current contributions to the car industry have been so valuable that their share price went from $177 back on February 2 to $498 on August 31.

One of the big contributions by Tesla, first of all, has been the optimization of electric vehicles. Their unique design has brought the attention of thousands if not millions of people towards electric car vehicles. To make it more clear, they changed their image (from ugly and expensive) to far more sophisticated and accessible. Moreover, their battery design was patent-free so that other companies could use it to fight against our current climate crisis.

Another thing I want to point out is the self-driving feature that many of their cars have. This is not only magnificent and something extraordinarily impressive, but also a step towards evolution. When you think about self-driving cars, you think about artificial intelligence, which is, as people say: our future.

Last but not least is their optimized and sophisticated battery system. Tesla is currently working on solar panels and effective batteries that will make the transition to renewable energy even more effective. According to ETF trends, their pack cost would be less than $100 per kWh (kilowatt-hour) which is less expensive than most of the US states.

To sum things up. Tesla is the first major electric vehicle company to shake up the industry. Not only are they the most valuable carmaker in the world (with over $340 Billion in market cap), but also they have taken the first step towards a transition to renewable energy. Their contributions include solar roofs, power walls, electric vehicles, and self-driving cars and these are just a glimpse of their true potential. It is probably a good time to invest in a company that does not only care about profits, but also cares about environmental problems. With millions if not billions of dollars invested in research and development, it’s safe to say that they have so much more to contribute to our society in the upcoming years.

  1. I loved all the information about Tesla, and I completely agree that the company will have a significant impact on our future as a species. I think the idea of electric and self-driving cars is extremely fascinating, and I can only hope to be as creative as the people who work for Tesla or some of Elon Musk’s other companies. It seems crazy to me that Tesla is able to produce cars that are so energy-efficient that also are sold at a reasonable price point, and I hope many other car companies will continue the revolution that Tesla has started. If somehow the company Tesla could use Nikolai Tesla’s work and produce wireless electricity using the ideas from a Tesla coil, I can’t even imagine what would happen for us technologically moving forward.

  2. I think you had a strong hook and it really made me want to keep reading. You did a great job giving an overview of Tesla and then adding detail to each section. Tesla isn’t all environmental friendly though, as the batteries still generate waste that needs to be disposed of.

    1. Thank you! I do agree with you, but that is something that will be fixed/improved eventually. We are starting with baby steps.

  3. Hi Diego,
I liked how you wrote this article. The lively voice in which it was written is very appealing when it comes to topics like economics. I’m curious what you think about Tesla’s stock price. The current PE ratio of Tesla is 962.59. In other words, people are willing to invest 962.59$ for every 1$ of profit that Tesla creates. Obviously Tesla does a lot of research and development and a lot of their research will become more profitable in the future. But my question for you is, do you think that their stock price is overvalued?

    1. I do think the stock is overvalued if you compare its PE ratio, some people even argue that Tesla isn’t that valuable at all. However, I think most of its value can be speculative. I’ve read that analysts think that even though their share price is overvalued, it will keep going up. From my perspective, I think it is overvalued even though it might keep going up.
