Cardi B’s highly anticipated debut album “Invasion of Privacy” finally dropped on April 6. This album has 13 tracks and contains the rapper’s sleeper hit single “Bodak Yellow” and “Bartier Cardi.” “Invasion of Privacy” features contributions from SZA, Kehlani, Migos, and Chance the Rapper. Here are the top five tracks on the album.
5. “Best Life,” featuring Chance the Rapper
“Best Life” is by far the most lighthearted track. Most of the songs on “Invasion of Privacy” use beats with a lot of bass; however, this one doesn’t. This song moves away from the gritty lyrics Cardi spits in her other songs and discusses staying positive through all the hate and jealousy she experiences. With Chance the Rapper’s classic cheerful vocals on the hook and in his own verse, this is definitely a stand-out track on the album.
- “Bickenhead”
This upbeat and bass-heavy song is bound to be a hit single in the coming weeks. This track is basically Cardi urging women to embrace their promiscuity, if they choose to live that way. She also admonishes women to avoid hating other women and to make some money of their own.
- “I Like It,” featuring Bad Bunny and J Balvin
This stand-out song on the album samples Boogaloo musician and fellow Bronx native Pete Rodriguez’s 1967 song “I Like It Like That.” This song really embraces Cardi B’s Hispanic roots. The creative take on the beat is beyond catchy. With features from hit Latin artists Bad Bunny and J Balvin, this is definitely a song to get up and dance to.
- “I Do,” featuring SZA
On this song the raptress boasts about her superiority over her haters and her very impressive record sales. The Bronx native has many quotable lines on this track, like “My little 15 minutes lasting long as hell” and “Now I’m a boss, I write my own name on the checks.” With SZA crooning on the hook, this song perfectly embodies Cardi B’s mindset.
- “Get Up 10”
This is the first track on “Invasion of Privacy” for good reason. It starts off to the smooth playing of a piano, then midway into the song it transitions into a bass-heavy beat as Cardi B begins to rap aggressively. On this record the raptress addresses her progression from being a stripper to becoming one of hip-hop’s most talked-about artists today.
This list excludes “Bodak Yellow” and “Bartier Cardi,” as the two buzzworthy singles were out for two months or more prior to the album release. Cardi B and her team did a great job at putting together a stellar debut album. “Invasion of Privacy” sold 255,000 copies in its first week and is now No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.
With this album receiving critical acclaim from critics and the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Ellen Degeneres and Diddy, the Bronx native has proved that she is here to stay. Cardi B just announced her pregnancy with her fiance Offset on “Saturday Night Live” April 7 and is set to tour with Bruno Mars in fall 2018, so we will definitely be seeing a lot more of this promising rapper.
