By Kyle Nefferdorf

President and CEO of the Philadelphia Education Fund Farah Jimenez will be this spring’s commencement speaker.
We are nearing the end of the spring semester, and that can only mean one thing for seniors… Graduation is near!
Commencement will take place at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 4, in the parking area outside the Athletic Building.
The speaker at commencement is Farah Jimenez, the president and CEO of the Philadelphia Education Fund. What she hopes to achieve is that every young person in the Philadelphia area has access to a “high quality” education. She hopes to have children ready to succeed in college and whatever career path they choose.
There will be approximately 350 students completing their degrees as the spring 2018 semester comes to a close.
The highest number of Abington college graduates will be students completing the Bachelor of Science in business degree.
Students in nursing from the College of Nursing are expected to have the most graduates from the Abington Campus.
New Lion’s Roar Logo
By Abby Capizzi
This issue of the Penn State Abington Newspaper is the first to feature the new logo of The Lion’s Roar. As co-editor of the paper, I suggested that the logo could use a fresh look.
After looking at many different Penn State logos, Professor Quattrone and I acquired one that had the right vibe to represent the paper. Our logo consists of a lion roaring with passion. As students and teachers of Penn State, we are passionate and proud to be Nittany Lions. That is exactly what we wanted to represent through our new logo.
Art major Reese Fitch, who has excellent graphic design skills, was able to bring this design to life. Sketching out different versions of the logo, he allowed us to choose the one that would work best for the paper. We are proud to say that the logo turned out exactly how we imagined it. “WE ARE” proud to represent our passion for Penn State and the Lion’s Roar through this new logo.
