Postdoctoral position on fundamental pyrolysis and kinetics at Penn State University
A post-doctoral researcher position is available at Penn State University at Toraman Research Group. We are looking for a candidate with strong background in pyrolysis, kinetics, gas chromatography, operation of batch and/or flow reactors, experience with micropyrolyzers and troubleshooting skills for maintaining lab scale reactors and gas chromatography. Please don’t apply if you don’t satisfy these requirements.See below for description:The Pennsylvania State University, Department of Energy and Mineral Engineering is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Toraman Research Lab under the direction of Prof. Hilal Ezgi Toraman. The Postdoctoral Scholar will work in the area of plastic waste upcycling under the guidance of Prof. Toraman. Roles:
Conducting full-time independent researchConducting pyrolysis experiments with lab scale reactors such as micropyrolyzers, method development for two dimensional gas chromatography, design of experiments, chromatography data analysisWriting technical publications and reportsGuiding graduate and undergraduate students in their research by reviewing and providing constructive feedback on lab member’s papers, oral presentations, and related work Assisting in overall organization and management of the lab Qualifications and Requirements: Ph.D as of the hire date in Chemical Engineering and Chemistry or related discipline Strong background in pyrolysis, kinetics, gas chromatographyExperience in the design and operation of batch and/or flow reactorsExperience with operation of micropyrolyzersTroubleshooting skills for maintaining lab scale reactors and gas chromatographyExperience in multivariate data analysis, design of experiments and kinetic modeling is a plusExperience in two dimensional gas chromatography is a plusDemonstrate success in carrying out independent research and dissemination of results Excellent organizational skills Excellent written/oral communication skills needed for active student mentoring and interaction with collaborators at Penn State and other universities Dedication in ensuring a respectful, equitable and inclusive work environment Experience in writing grant proposals preferred Interested Candidates should submit a cover letter describing their interest in the position and career goals, a CV including publication list, and names & contact information of up to three references to hzt5148@psu.edu with PYROPLAS in the subject line.
