If there’s one thing about me, it’s that my brain holds about 95% song lyrics, and the other 5% is other actual important things in my life. Music has always been a therapy for me and, as the title suggests, has often spoken words for me that I could never express on my own. It’s like trying to explain an emotion you’re feeling and you simply just can’t; then suddenly a song comes on and you’re like, “Oh! That’s exactly what I’m feeling!” Suddenly, you and that song are attached at the hip.
Not only am I passionate about music, but I am ORGANIZED. I have playlists for any and all emotions I could possibly be feelings. I have playlists for long car rides, short car rides, vacations, work, etc. You need music, I got it! I’m someone who listens to music depending on my mood (or that music changes my mood); whereas others tend to listen to music just because it is “good.” Often, when I am feeling content, I will just shuffle my music altogether because I don’t really have a specific mood and a targeted preference of songs.
Something that my friends think is quite funny is that I can and WILL correct you if you sing, type, or say the lyrics to a song wrong. If you know me, you know I have a pretty slow reaction time; but if you dare sing a line wrong I will interrupt your luxurious singing and tell you that you got it wrong. I have never seen or felt my brain act so quickly in any other situations.
Since this is more of a personal-style blog, I feel like it would be cool to share with anyone reading two of my favorite songs, and why. I love hearing about others’ music types and why, as well as sharing my own. I
- Get Me Away From You – Hinder: Basically, this song is about loving someone who is no good for you, but it’s just so hard to walk away. The lyrics speak to me on a lot of levels because I have very well been in a situation that the band sings about; it makes me feel seen, heard, and it reminds me of how hard the situation was but that I was able to get away from it.
- Hazel Inside – Blackbear: This song is a very happy, upbeat song that describes how happy someone makes you feel (hazel inside). This song gives me peace and reminds me of how I was able to come from such a dark place, to such a wonderful state of mind.
While I’m sure I just gave it away, I must mention that I have a very diverse taste in music. I love rock, alternative, rap, R&B, country, and a tiny bit of pop, but it is my least favorite.
Now, for anyone reading:
- Apple Music or Spotify? (there is a right answer)
- Recommend me songs PLEASE 🙂
Good use of the semicolon! I am just like you in that I have an abnormal amount of playlist that cater to many moods and occasions. That blackbear song is very good, I remember hearing it not to long ago. As for your question about Apple Music or Spotify, the answer is obviously Spotify. I feel like anyone who asks this question is a Spotify user because we for some reason feel the need to defend the app, but I honestly think it speaks for itself. Spotify also allows me to listen to unreleased Lana Del Rey music, and Apple Music doesn’t have it. As for music recommendations, literally listen to All Too Well (10 min version) on a loop. It’s that time of year girl.
I totally relate to this, I am such a music girl! We were on the same wavelength with our music passion blog posts this week! Great semi-colon use, it was integrated very well. I thought of the song July by Boy while reading your blog post, which is also about coming from a rough place and being ok.
