Organizing, Creating Ideas, Solving problems
My time in the Marine Corps has taught me a lot. The Marine Corps is known for doing the most with the least amount of material given. “Adapt and overcome” was a common motto that we lived by and recited daily. In certain times this can be frustrating but it has taught me to solve the most complicated problems in unlikeliest of ways. I now see challenges not as a problem but rather than an opportunity to learn and to teach. As an administrative specialist, I was in charge of keeping track of over four hundreds marines. Staying organized was a skill that I had to master because accountability was everything. As a corporal, I was given the billet, Administrative Chief where I was given more responsibility and less time to do work. Through strength and determination, I was able to achieve the rank of Sergeant in less than four years. Today I strive to gain the knowledge and skills through Penn State World Campus that will help me excel in whichever civilian job I may choose, whether that may be an actuary, auditor, brownfield redevelopment specialists & site managers, budget analysts or business continuity planner. I feel confident in my skills and abilities and will continue to move forward.
