The Center for Healthy Aging

Transitions Study team members work at the Center for Healthy Aging in Penn State.  In 1973, the Penn State Gerontology Center was formally established as the headquarters for research on adult development.  It was renamed “The Center for Healthy Aging” in 2010 to more accurately showcase its diverse research and educational goals.  Over the last 40 years, the Center has become known nationally and internationally for its excellence in aging research and developmental methods.  It currently encompasses 24 full-time research faculty, administrative and technical staff, post-doctoral fellows and pre-doctoral students as well as over two dozen additional faculty affiliates who use the Center’s resources to guide their research.  The Center sponsors discussion/presentation seminars, colloquia that feature distinguished aging researchers from around the University as well as visiting scientists and state officials, workshops on a broad range of topics, and research retreats.  In partnership with local senior care and housing communities, the Center sponsors the successful “Healthy Aging Community Lecture Series”, advancing its community outreach goals.  Please visit our website for more information and updates!
