Hello Travelers!!

Today I am going to go over my tips and tricks of making your trip to Walt Disney World the most magical. I have been at least 30 times so I would say I’m a little bit of an expert of all things Disney World.

1. Try going in the off season!

Disney is magical like we all know and it is definitely the most magical during the holidays. But if you don’t like huge crowds and very long lines I would not suggest going during Thanksgiving, Halloween or Christmas. If you also don’t like heat then Florida in July and August is blistering and sometimes unbearable, I have found that the best time to go is September or May. The weather is mild and the crowds are low because of school.

2. If you don’t like kids this is not the place to go!

I know Walt Disney World is the land for kids and if you think, “Oh I can handle it. It’s not like I have to interact with them.” You are wrong. There are kids everywhere. Screaming kids, crying kids, kids throwing tantrums, kids pushing you out of the way, kids pushing strollers that smash into the back of your legs, just kids EVERYWHERE. Like I said if you do not like kids, I suggest going to the beach instead.

3. Pack lightly in the park!

One they make you go through several bag checks and make you unzip every pouch, compartment and little hiding places when you enter each and every park. It’s too keep you safe but man can those lines get long and annoying. I suggest if you are going during peak times to go bag less. You can skip the lines and walk right to the park entrance. If it’s not possible to go bag less pack as little as possible. Water, band aids, camera and wallet is all you really need. Also, do not pack pouches within your bag. I speak from experience. They will remove every single pouch and open them to see what’s inside. They even opened my sunglass case once!

4. Please go equipped with maximum patience!

We know the lines are long, your feet hurt, you’re hungry and hot and all you want to do is sit down, everyone is going through the same exact experience. Please remember that everyone there is trying to have a magical experience and complaining loudly, one does nothing and two can ruin someone’s day. Another thing is that Disney Cast members are amazing. They deal with so much, so please don’t spit in their faces, slap them, yell at them or curse at them. They are just trying to do their job.

Finally, the most important thing I can suggest is

5. BRING A RAIN JACKET!!

Florida has unexpected torrential downpours that can last all day or just minutes. The worst thing in the world is exiting a ride and looking outside and just seeing a monsoon of rain and you forgot your jacket in the room. Believe me, this has happened so many times on my trips that I permanently carry a jacket with me at all times, even if rain is not in the forecast. The ponchos that Disney sell are also not the greatest for keeping you dry and nothing is worse than sitting down for a cold ride all wet.

I hope this helps with any future adventures at the most magical place in the world!

One thought on “How to Rock Your Disney Trip!

  1. Katie, your post of Disney World reminded me of the two trips I had made to Orlando in 2005 and 2010. As a kid who was 5 and 10 respectively for each trip, I was amazed by the magical Disneyworld. Unfortunately there was too many people it is Disney after all, so sometimes we were waiting for a significant amount of time. One time I remember waiting two hours for one ride! However, in my second trip they introduced the fasttrack pass that you could get to skip the line for some rides. My father strategically planned where to use such passes and we somehow didn’t have to stand in a line for more than ten minutes! Those were days….
However, without digressing much more, I must say that it was very nostalgic to read your post. Your blog seems to be a no nonsense travelers’ guide to different places. I have never read something truly like that and it was truly refreshing to read it. However, I really missed having some pictures to look at. I think it may help improve the impact of your post further.
That doesn’t deny the fact that I loved reading your blog. I look forward to seeing where your travels take you.
    Vivek
