About Us

Hello my name is Michael Swope and I am currently a freshman studying Environmental Systems Engineering. I am very concerned with issues regarding the environment such as sustainability and climate change. I find the weather to be fascinating and I am eager to learn about different weather phenomena and explore what causes severe weather events.

Hi! My name is Maddi Brant and I am also a freshman studying Environmental Systems Engineering. I chose to go into this field because of my interest in the environmental issues in the world today. I’m very excited to be studying here at Penn State.

 

About this Blog

We are going to be researching different weather phenomena in the tropics and low latitudes, ranging from small scale weather events to more serious weather phenomena. This blog is going to focus on what drives these events and the different dynamics associated with them. An emphasis will be put on hurricane formation along with the variables that drive hurricanes. Tropical meteorology is a pressing topic in today’s society as severe weather impacts many regions of the world everyday. Understanding the weather is vital to maintaining the welfare of people in society because severe storms can be extremely dangerous and powerful.
