Next in my series of underrated artists is Yeek. He is an indie pop singer from south Florida. He began his career with his first album release in 2015 titled Love Slacker. However, it wasn’t until 2017 did he gain more momentum with his album Sebastian, and more specifically, it’s most popular track Only in the West. Along with multiple singles and his most recent EP release in 2019, Yeek has been able to amount a little over one million Spotify listeners.
Yeek’s music is often described as genre-less, as it pulls from multiple places such as rock, pop, alternative, and more. He didn’t put that label on himself, but it has grown within his following to describe his sound as such. Because of this, it’s difficult to identify exactly what his music is like in order to provide you all with an idea. Overall, his style is so unique and extraordinary that it’s impossible to pin it down. If you’d like to listen to Yeek talk about his music himself, you can watch an interview he did with bsidestv here.
To begin my recommendations, I wanted to start with Only in the West. This song is extremely popular, and for good reason. The mellow beats of the track along with the occasional guitar solo gives the song a very chill vibe. In this song, Yeek goes on about the troubles aspiring artists like himself go through in order to pursue their dreams of making it big in L.A. This often leads many singers, like himself, falling into a depression, or into “the west coast blues.” He also mentions drug use frequently in the verses, and how many young artists resort to these measures in order to make a living in such difficult circumstances.
My next suggestion is the first song off of his new EP, IDK Where. It’s titled Cleaner Air, and has a more upbeat sound compared to the previous song. Although still having relaxed vibes, the song reminds me more of a warm summer day or driving around with your friends at 3am. I think it could perfectly fit either situation, which is what makes Yeek’s music so versatile and original. In this track, he sings about the strenuous relationship he’s had with his partner, but that he still ultimately loves her and doesn’t want her to leave.
Lastly, I think you all should check out I’m Trying, which also appears on IDK Where. The song features Dominic Fike, a fellow artist on the rise who gained a lot of attention from his song 3 Nights. This song has a stronger beat and mellow sound, as both artists try to explain how they are doing their best, that they aren’t perfect. A relatable subject, Yeek and Dominic Fike sound clearly exasperated as they feel they are never enough no matter how hard they try.
I believe it’s only a matter of time until Yeek blows up. For now, though, I’m glad I was able to introduce him to you all. If you enjoyed the songs I suggested or found other ones you liked, please let me know. I highly recommend checking Yeek out in order to discover something exciting and new!

I love Dominic Like too I think he is an underrated artist who defiantly belongs in this blog. If Yeek blows up I will able to saw I read it from here first. I like that his music falls under no specific genre after listening to I’m Trying I understand what he means by this. I wouldn’t know how to categorize his music either. I think this is a very interesting idea for a blog I am excited to see what other artists you choose to write about.
