When I decided to go to Penn State, I knew I was going to walk… a lot, but I don’t think my wardrobe was quite prepared for it. On a campus of 8,556 acres, it easy to average 4 to 5 miles of walking everyday. On my first day of class, I was completely lost on what to wear. Obviously dressing for class is different for everybody. Some like to role right out of bed, and head to their 9:00 am while others choose to wear extremely put together outfits. Whatever your style, I still believe it is important to consider three main points when dressing every morning
– Do I feel comfortable in this?
– Does this outfit say what I want it to about myself?
– Do I feel confident in this?
I believe when all three of these questions are answered, with a yes, the outfit in question is an excellent choice. I have always thought of fashion as a great way to tell people about yourself, without ever saying a word. When you are looking to make an impression, like on the first day of class, make sure your outfit matches what you would want to share with others.
Outfit #1 Studious and Focused
This outfit is for the girl who wants to look polished. The top is a nice emerald green, that suits any skin color. The short sleeves allow for some much needed ventilation, to keep you cool while walking from class to class in late August weather. I paired the shirt with some black jeans. Pants of some sort are extremely helpful when walking outside all day. It ensures you don’t have to worry about any unfortunate outfit malfunctions. The black color makes this pair extremely versatile, making black jeans a great staple piece in any college student’s wardrobe.
I chose black flats, because they maintained the polished theme of the outfit, while providing comfort. When walking, you want to make sure your feet are as comfortable as possible. Nothing is more unfortunate than getting a blister from unreliable shoes. Before wearing a pair of shoes for the day, make sure you have tested them out before for comfort. A simple eye makeup look and a bright red lip will addd the finishing touch to the look. With a look like this, people will sure to think you have college all figured out!
Outfit #2 Easy going
This outfit is for the girl who goes with the flow. The breezy white tank top with embroidery gives an effortless boho feel, while keeping you cool in the warm weather. I paired the top with some nice ripped boyfriend jeans. Boyfriend jeans have a loose feel, making them what I like to call the “sweatpants of jeans!” I matched the look with shinny gold sandals, that will keep your feet comfortable, while still looking cute. Top off the look with really simple eye makeup and a nude lip, and college will be as easy as your spirit!
Outfit #3 Sporty Lux
This look is for the girl who wants to be as comfortable as possible, without resorting to leggings and a Penn State sweatshirt. I started off with this bright red, flowy t-shirt. The bright color will help inject some energy in to your outfit, and right into your day. I believe that bright colors make a huge difference in tiredness levels. If you feel a little more tired than usual, try out a bright color to add a much needed energy boost. I paired the top with some fitted athletic pants. The pants can easily be swapped for plain black leggings, but the athletic pant helps give a sporty twist to the look. Sometimes, lecture halls can get a bit chilly, so I added a black bomber jacket to help keep you warm during your classes. A nice pair of white sneakers finishes the look, promissing that you will make it to the finish (of the semester) while still looking good.
All three looks would be perfect for your first week of class! With your outfits sorted out, all that is left is to hit the books, make awesome new friends, and make your freshman year one of the best yet!

Hi Pritika,
Can I start off with just saying your opening was so relatable. The panic of choosing a first impression outfit that wouldn’t kill me as I hiked all over creation was definitely, definitely real. Having your blog then would’ve been so helpful.
I also really like the layout you have, with a little intro and then specific outfit examples, with explanations why. The three points are helpful too.
Are they going to be the same ones throughout your whole blog, or will they change with each post?
For the outfits themselves, I think those are really really cute! I’m a especially a fan of number 2. I can’t wait to see more!
