My name is John M. Peters (PhD). I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Meteorology and Atmospheric Science at Penn State University, and lead the convective cloud processes research group. Our research group studies a variety of topics related to convective cloud processes. This includes the dynamics of moist atmospheric convection, supercells, tornadoes, moist thermodynamics, mesoscale convective systems, and cumulus parameterization development. We use a mixture of theory, computer simulations, and observations. Our goal is to provide foundational scientific understanding that contributes to improvements in weather and climate forecasting.
