I learn so much from my mentee and I really value the opportunity to not only hear the issues that he is facing, but to work together with him to create and execute impactful change in his life. There is not much else one could do that is more rewarding than to give their time to help enact positive change in another’s life. It is also amazing to watch the mentee grow in their own self-confidence and self-esteem. Through this program, I have learned so much about different skills that can help me with my academic work! I have advanced in my time management, leadership skills, communication skills, goal-setting, connecting with others, and professionalism just to name a few. Favorite Quote: “The best is yet to come.” This quote allows me to focus on the future and know that good things have happened to me in the past or are happening in the present, but even better things will happen in the future. It even applies to life when it isn’t going as planned or poorly. The quote is comforting as it indicates the best things in life are to come in the future as long as you have hope and faith in your future. Favorite place on campus: My favorite place on campus is the Health and Human Development building. I love this building because it is always relatively quiet and has high tables and chairs right next to big windows that face downtown to allow me to do my work at. This building is also right near downtown. Future aspirations: I hope to attend a physician assistant program and specialize in dermatology. Favorite ice cream at the Creamery: The vanilla bean flavor at the Creamery is different than any vanilla bean flavor I have had before.
