From living here in Pennsylvania and going to school here for the time I have, I have learn that Pennsylvania is going through a major drug crisis especially with heroin being that main drug. There has been overdoses, people get caught in possession of it, and people trying to buy it in numbers they haven’t seen before. In my criminal justice class my professor who works as an EMT on and ambulance has told us that she has been to many crime scenes that involved people overdosing on heroin. It is apparently becoming a major epidemic and must be stopped before something horrible happens.
The first question is why is heroin becoming such a problem all of the sudden? Why is it that it is becoming the main drug? Heroin is one of the most drugs for you and is one of the most addicting drugs out there and I guess people do not get it. Heroin isn’t something to joke around with because it will ruin your life and the life of people around you. Once people get on heroin it almost becomes part of their system and it is like clockwork. People are going to crave it saying that they need it and to tell the truth they do need it because people can die if they try to give up heroin it is like their body almost needs it to keep going and that is what makes it so dangerous. People are now wanting this drug that people have looked over for years.
Why are people resorting drugs more now than ever? Is there something I am missing our have people bee using drugs now for almost anything and are using any kind of drug? Take a look at the using of marijuana and how it skyrocketed over the last century. It is highly illegal to possess weed let alone smoke weed. While some states have decriminalized it, it is still a federal crime and is highly enforced. But that’s just weed any other drug is prohibited from being sold and faces a high punishment charge. You could face up to life in prison is found with enough of it and the activity you have been doing with it such as murder, assault, theft, or owning other illegal items such as unmarked guns. This makes me wonder why people are willing to break the law for this drugs. What benefits do people get from using these drugs and at what cost do they come.
Coming from a family who did not allow people the use of these drugs because they were deemed illegal I myself have never experienced these drugs but I do know the cost will always out way the benefits of smoking a joint, shooting up, or dropping. But I have seen people’s lives go completely downhill and have seen some people I know loss their lives. I’ll never know what they were thinking but these drugs were made illegal for a reason.
Has drugs ever ruined your life? Are the benefits greater than the costs or are the costs greater than the benefits?

Hi Robert,
This was an interesting read. I think it’s really cool that you’re passionate about crime. Heroin is definitely a growing problem in the US. To make your blogs better, I would probably get someone to read over them for grammatical purposes. I noticed you left out a few words and at points, it was kind of difficult to follow. Your thoughts were also kind of all over the place; you should think about how you want to organize your post before you post it. Some of your paragraphs were redundant. Also, you asked a lot of questions that you never actually answered even though they didn’t seem rhetorical. To fix this, I would make sure you have the minimum of two sources. For example, you asked why there is a spike in heroin use in America. There have been many studies on the drug crisis that you could’ve looked into and drawn from to answer some of the questions you present the audience with. Asking questions like this without answering them might leave your audience feeling unsatisfied. That’s really all I can think of though to make your posts better. It’s a cool topic, and there are definitely a lot of different ways you can go with crime.
