Would you prefer to have a Russian course with only domestic language learners?

I: if you had the option to be in a course with just domestic learners would you prefer that

S: no I would not um sometimes it is frustrating and I feel like I’m slowing people down or that you know I kind of get embarrassed because I don’t know as much as everybody else but then I kind of just has have to accept that and acknowledge that I came into this from a much different level and I also had eight weeks as opposed to a year and half to learn the materials so after I kind of got passed that I just really tried to soak up everything that they say and um all the help that they give they really I think that they give me a lot more than I would get from this class if they weren’t in there and it’s just kind of have to put your pride aside for a little bit and just accept that you need the help

Reflections – In Rebecca 4 and 5, Rebecca describes how she feels that it is mutually beneficial for domestic and heritage students to work together. Do you think that other students share her opinion? In your experience, what are some effective strategies for capitalizing on the strengths of some students to benefit the weaknesses of others? Do domestic and heritage students seem open to working together? Does one group typically display more resistance than another? If so, why might this be?
