Course Reserve Information

Vairo Library offers the option of instructors to inform of us of materials they would like to have available to their students.  These materials include print materials, electronic reserves, open education resources, etc.

Print Materials

Instructors: If you would like copies of print books available for in-library use, please email Adrienne at aus206@psu.edu with information. If you have your own copy(ies) you are willing to have at the library, we will gladly add them to the course reserve selection. We may keep copies of books used in previous years, but please let us know if you’ve changed texts, and know that we typically only offer materials when informed by the instructor. We may not put old copies on reserve without your request each semester in order to avoid handing students the wrong edition or text.

Students: Print materials can only be checked out for two hours, and must be returned to the same service desk from which they were borrowed. Overdue fines for course reserves is $2 per hour to a possible maximum of $100. To access print materials, visit our circulation desk with the course number and instructor’s name if possible (e.g., ENGL 015/Berkey).

Electronic Reserves

Instructors: Electronic materials such as journal articles can be linked to your Canvas course, but you must first contact Mary Murray at mcm10@psu.edu each semester. Due to copyright laws, we need a record of your use of copyrighted materials to have them added to the class and this must be renewed each semester.
