Teaching

Before attending Penn State University, I graduated from SUNY Cortland summa cum laude with a degree in Adolescent Education: History and Social Studies. I also worked as a writing tutor during my stay at SUNY Cortland and during my Master’s Degree at the University at Albany. In spring 2017, I earned a Senior Teaching Assistant Award from Penn State’s History Department. In addition to working as a teaching assistant, I earned certificates in College Teaching and Online Teaching from Penn State’s Graduate School and World Campus respectively. This year, I will teach undergraduate courses in World and Latin American History. A desire to share a contagious curiosity about history drives my professional career.

More than any other subject, I believe History provides students with the tools to interrogate information and think more critically about sources. Engaging in history as a craft rather than the memorization of facts allows students to become more thoughtful and informed citizens in a wider community.
