Another blog post about a downtown restaurant! As a warning, I decided to split the review of this restaurant into two blog posts, as I realized how long it would be after writing part of it.

Cozy Thai Bistro is a restaurant on South Allen street, and is usually pretty busy (especially on weekends). I have been there a few times, as Thai food is one of my favorite cuisines, and the place has been packed two out of the three times. There was a slight wait to get a table both times, but it was relatively fast for the amount of people there. They gave us estimates for the waits, and we got our table in less than the given wait time both times.

I will say, though, that one of the times when it was super busy, the wait to order and get the food was pretty long. I went with a group of six people, and we were sitting there for about half an hour without ordering. We finally had to ask someone to take our order, and then had to wait another half an hour for the food to be served. At the end, we had to wait a while again for the checks, and had to ask on our own for those to be brought out.

Since we went for lunch, we took the lunch special, which includes a salad or soup before the entree comes out. Unfortunately, we never got our soups and salads. We had already been waiting for a long time and had somewhere else to be, so we decided to just skip these. This was the only downside, and was the case only one of the times that I went to the restaurant. The service was great the other two times. Now moving on to the food…

The food here was good every single time, and the price was pretty reasonable for the quantity of food. I went for lunch two of the three times and dinner one time. The first time I ordered green curry for lunch. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of this meal to include in this blog, but I found a picture on Cozy Thai Bistro’s Facebook page that has the dish in it:

The green curry is the middle bowl in the bottom row. Since it was the lunch special, I got a salad with it. The salad consisted of lettuce, carrots and a peanut-based sauce. The sauce was on the sweeter side, and added flavor to the salad. It was a good start to the meal!

Right after, I got the green curry with a side of rice. The curry had eggplant, squash, zucchini, bamboo shoots and basil in it, and you can get it with meat, tofu or veggies. Personally, I chose to include tofu in my curry to get some protein. The curry was creamy, and tasted really good. The portion size and the rice to curry ratio was perfect, which made it a nice and light lunch.

I decided to get dessert here as well the first time I went, so I got Thai tea ice cream. Once again, I found a picture of the ice cream on the Facebook page, since I forgot to take a picture at the restaurant:

This was the first time I had heard of this type of ice cream and was intrigued by the name. It really did taste like Thai tea, and I enjoyed eating it. As you can tell, the whole meal was delicious. It was a really good experience, and I was excited to go back again. Little did I know that I would return to the restaurant a couple more times in the near future, but more on that in the next blog post…

I like how you talked about the customer service at the restaurant, since that can be just as important as how good the food is sometimes.
