Sowers Harvest Café has been one of my favorite restaurants in State College since the first time I ate there when my brother started college at Penn State four years ago. This restaurant is located on E Beaver Avenue, and has unique hours and timings. Although it is closed on Sundays and Mondays, it is open from 7:30am to 3:00pm on Tuesdays through Fridays, and 8:30am to 3:00pm on Saturdays.

There are various food options at this restaurant, including french toast, omelettes, egg sandwiches, paninis, salads, pretzels, smoothies, coffee and tea drinks, and assorted sides. One of the dishes that I have had at Sowers Harvest Café is the veggie pesto omelette, which is pictured below.

This omelette contains various vegetables, including spinach, mushrooms, bell peppers, and onions, as well as cheese and pesto. The pesto is made fresh at Sowers Harvest Café, and is a combination of basil, parmesan, romano, minced garlic and pine nuts. The eggs for the omelette come from a local Amish farmer in rural Pennsylvania, where the hens are only given non-GMO feed. As can be seen in the picture, this dish comes with an orange slice and toast on the side.

I have really enjoyed this omelette meal every single time I have gotten it! All the ingredients are clearly fresh, and it is made very well with the cheese melted perfectly. The orange slice has also always been very sweet, and I get the toast with butter. I usually get the kids version of the veggie pesto omelette, and this quantity is enough to fill me up for one meal. It also makes the meal cheaper!

One of the drinks that I have tried at Sowers Harvest Café is the golden chai, which is a milk-based drink made with turmeric.

Towards the beginning of this semester, my throat was itching, and I thought it would be a good idea to have a hot drink like this one. It did help reduce my sore throat, and is a good drink in general to help with your health, as well as to prevent or alleviate sickness. When initially drinking the golden chai, there is definitely a kick to it with the strong turmeric flavor, but after getting past the beginning, this drink tastes really nice and is very soothing. I asked for honey to be added as a sweetener, which also made the drink more flavorful. I really liked the design on top, and thought it was a cute addition to the drink!

I have always loved Sowers Harvest Café, and have never had a bad experience there. I have tried several of their dishes, such as the veggie supreme omelette and the veggie pesto panini (shown below).

Although I have never tried it myself, I have also heard that their pretzels are delicious, and they are very fresh, as they are handmade multiple times every day at the restaurant. Sowers Harvest Café tries its best to get its ingredients from local sources, and it is clear that everything is made fresh. This does result in a bit of a longer wait time, but it is definitely worth the wait! Additionally, none of the food is too expensive!

Their customer service is also great, as everyone is extremely nice and welcoming. They have a piano in one corner for anyone that wants to play, as well as a couple Tower of Hanoi sets for people to play with while they wait. There are some comfy bean bags next to the piano that make a really cozy spot. I urge everyone to try out the food at Sowers Harvest Café, and it is definitely going to be one of my go-to spots during my time at Penn State!

This post was very interesting! I appreciate how you’re still posting about food places in State College, and it is very helpful because when we go back, I want to try some new places. I’ve never heard about this place, but now that I have, I’ll have to try it out!

I also love Sowers Harvest! I’ve only been there once and I had an omelette, which was was delicious. I do want to try their pretzels when we eventually go back in the fall. I like this blog since I’m not a vegetarian, but I do try to limit how much meat I eat. Sadly, we can’t go to these places at the moment, but I’m excited to try them next year!
