On the Road

The Global Asias Initiative encompasses a vibrant set of programs at PSU but we also provide support for non-PSU colleagues interested in Global Asias work through our On the Road partnership program. Working with institutional partners from around the country, On the Road has four goals: 1) to bring Global Asias work to a wider audience; 2) to identify and support programs/schools that could serve as regional hubs for the development of Global Asias networks; 3) to provide meaningful mentorship and support to scholars working at the intersections of Asian studies, Asian American studies, and Asian diaspora studies; and 4) to create programs that develop and nurture professional cohorts.

Through our On the Road partnerships, we have sponsored panels and roundtables at the AAS and AAAS conferences and worked with other departments and programs to host workshops, symposia, and events. In addition, we host the Global Asias Cyber Chats program, which sponsors virtual discussions and workshops about the methods and praxis of Global Asias as an evolving institutional form.

More information about specific On the Road projects, including CFPs and CFAs, can be found under this tab. If you would like to explore being an institutional partner for an On the Road project, please send preliminary inquiries to vergevents@psu.edu or submit an application HERE.
