What’s Going On: Week of April 12, 2021 – Scheduling Classes!

Well, hello there!

This is an update post about what’s going on in State College and in my life this week! Today is Monday, April 12, 2021. It’s currently early in the afternoon and the weather looks a little cloudy and a little rainy.

Currently, I’m anticipating that the biggest occurrence of the week is class scheduling for Fall 2021. Class scheduling starts this week and every other day a new batch of students gets to start scheduling classes for the upcoming semester depending on how many credits they have completed. This way, rising seniors get priority in scheduling their classes over rising juniors and so on and so forth.

The 2 exceptions to this scheduling system are athletes and honors students. I know this because I joined the Cross Country team my first semester of college and got priority registration for the Spring semester. It’s because of this priority registration that I was enabled to land seats in entrance to major business courses that usually only sophomore get seats in. Taking these required classes early enabled me to also declare my major early, and move to State College for my sophomore year rather than my junior year, which is the standard in 2+2 programs.

In other words: scheduling classes has been an essential part of my college experience thus far!

By this point, I feel confident about landing seats in the classes that I still have to take because I’ll be scheduling my courses earlier than most everybody else at the school. The tricky part is that because I’m attempting to graduate with minors in Psychology and Sociology, my credit load for the next 2 semester will still be quite busy, since I’ll be finishing up my major courses along with classes for my minors.
