Research and Publications

My research generally takes a behavioral or perceptual approach to understanding: 1) the influence that top executives, particularly CEOs, have on various organizational constituencies and governance structures; and, 2) the influence that external societal forces, external constituencies, and governance structures have on executive actions and organizational outcomes. Underlying much of my past research is a concern with understanding why wrongdoing or misconduct occurs–why do “good” people do “bad” things? I have also worked to advance the qualitative comparative analysis (QCA) and the set-theoretic approach of case research among strategy and management researchers.
