I am Wamaitha Karungu, a senior at Penn State, deeply immersed in the study of Mathematics and Economics. My unwavering goal is to attain the highest qualifications in these fields, leveraging them as powerful tools to address pressing global challenges within the realm of technology.

What truly captivates me is the intricate interplay between human behavior and optimization in response to varying conditions, and my passion lies in quantifying these behaviors. I aspire to bridge seemingly unrelated subjects with the quantitative domains, forging innovative connections between social justice, sustainable finance, digital technologies, climate change, and even the fashion world. To further my journey, I am committed to growing in the fields of data science and quantitative analysis, equipping myself with the skills necessary to make data-driven, informed decisions. Moreover, I yearn for opportunities that encompass traveling the world, enabling me to apply my knowledge in diverse global contexts, be it through international research, conferences, fieldwork, or collaborations with organizations dedicated to making a difference on a global scale.

Outside of my schooling, I have had the opportunity to discover my interests and practice my skills through internships, research, and student involvement. Engaging with various embassies and international banks further expanded my global perspective, highlighting the interconnectedness of economic decisions on a broader scale. This experience equipped me with economic diplomacy and collaboration skills, which I recognize as crucial to my career aspirations. In essence, my experience outside of school  provided me with practical knowledge, allowing me to bridge the gap between theoretical concepts and real-world applications.
