It’s become quite clear that providing quarterback  Carson Wentz our savior with weapons has been the Eagles top priority this off-season. All of the Eagles’ top free agent pick ups happen to play on the offensive side of the ball and are expected to help Wentz in one way or another. This is very well needed since it seemed like last year we had wide-receivers out in the field that we picked up at the local high schools in Philly. The truth is though non of this Image result for free agency eagles 2017would be possible without money, the magical thing that makes the world go round. As the Eagles continue to build around their franchise quarterback, they’ve done so with financial savviness from their front office. Howie Roseman has done an incredible job of signing talent to short-term bargains that will help alleviate their financial burden down the road.

I know that short term deals sound like we don’t have our future secured in the league but the truth is we have to do these short deals now and then eventually we can sign the longer deals if the players pan out. Ok, so who did we actually sign right?  The eagles have signed the following players in the off-season:

Nick Foles

This may  not seem important because we have Wentz but you always gotta be prepared for the worse case that he gets hurt. I know we have Chase Daniels but this allows us to move his bigger contract and free up money for more acquisitions this off-season and besides we know as Eagles fans what Nick Foles is capable of, I mean come on do I have to remind you of the 2013 season. The man threw seven touchdowns in one game that is all I’m gonna say.

Torrey Smith

This may be another head scratchier but we need receivers as I have stressed many times in the past. This guy not only brings experience and maturity. He also brings speed and man do we need that deep ball threat, to spread the field. Smiths speed will take the top off of opposing defenses. Smith averages 17.0 yards per reception in his career. The only active receiver with a higher average is DeSean Jackson (17.9 yards per reception) and we know what he can do.

Chance Warmack

If your like me I had no idea who this guy is but after some research this boy can play. Warmack could be the most underrated signing of free agency thus far. The No. 10 overall pick of the 2013 NFL Draft had a hugely successful college career at Alabama, where he was named a two-time All-SEC player and a unanimous All-American. With our O-Line aging quicker then Benjamin Button, we need all the OL we can get.

Alshon jeffery If Alshon Jeffery does not get the franchise tag, could he head to the Philadelphia Eagles?

Easily the best signing for us this off-season Jeffery is exactly what we need for our young stud Wentz. We finally have a potential elite receiver since our time with DeSean Jackson. The ceiling for this kid hasn’t even been reached due to injury’s and playing in the shadow of Brandon Marshall for sometime.

The best part? The Eagles aren’t done. The 2017 NFL Draft is still over a month away and there are a lot of good football players on the market looking for jobs. But where the Eagles stand right now, it’s hard not to be happy with the moves that have already been made. If there was ever a time to be happy to bleed green its right now.
