As the Event Planning and Hospitality Coordinator Intern, I’ve had quite a few things to do so far this semester! I organized an event to try and get freshmen acquainted with the Abba Java Coffee House. Throughout the week, I go into the coffee house to volunteer, mostly on Wednesdays and Thursdays! It’s a lot of fun to interact with the students that come in, and the other volunteers. During my time at the coffee house, I work on the little things that Jen and Sue ask from me! A few weeks back, I had the chance to decorate the bulletin board, and I extremely enjoyed crafting for it. I also have the chance to change the decorations to keep up with the seasons! Recently I’ve added a couple pumpkins to the fall leaves already up there. This gives me a chance to work on something fun and creative, and it opens up a lot of doors for more ideas!
As the weeks pass by, I keep planning for my next event : a movie night! For this event I am still looking to reach out to more freshmen, but I’m also reaching out to my friends who do not necessarily know about Abba Java yet (no matter how much I talk about it!). Working with other interns, as well as Jen and Sue, has really been helpful and a great experience. There is so much freedom to my duties, and I love bouncing ideas off of everyone!
