About Me

Hi all! My name is Billy Siemon. I am from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and I graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, located about twenty minutes south of the city. I am the oldest of 6, for I have 3 brothers and 3 sisters. I live with my dad, loving stepmother, and 4 of my other siblings. My story is a very rocky road to date, but nonetheless, here we are. Throughout my life, I have been glued to the sports world, whether it be watching, playing, or reporting. I am a diehard Pittsburgh sports fan. For as long as I can remember I have been supporting the Penguins, Steelers, and even, the Pirates. My sport of choice is hockey because I have played the sport almost my whole life and was introduced to it by my dad in my toddler years.

I can remember watching the NHL since the 2008 Stanley Cup Finals when the Penguins lost to the Detroit Red Wings. Ever since then, I was hooked. Everything I have done has revolved around hockey, whether it be playing the sport or watching it. The phrase “I can’t because I have hockey” might have been my staple phrase throughout my childhood. I would not have traveled the country like I did if it wasn’t for all of the tournaments I played in. A significant amount of my core memories revolve around hockey. Every spring/summer, I am glued to my TV come 8pm to watch all of the playoff games that are set to take place for that evening. I have always enjoyed going to the games, and my hope is to one day visit all 32 NHL Arenas, attend one outdoor game, one playoff game, and one game where the Stanley Cup is won. Hockey is my passion, and if I cannot play hockey as a career, then I want to report on the sport and everything around it.

I am not all sports, as much as it may seem that way. I love to bring peace to my mind by sitting down and reading a good book every now and again. I am an avid reader and will pick up almost any book that catches my eye, no matter the genre. My favorite book series is the Hunger Games Series. I loved following that storyline through three stellar books and one pretty neat prequel. I will read anything from fiction to nonfiction, mystery to comedy, etc. Sometimes the books I read are very hard to put down, so I am often stuck forcing myself back to reality through a numerous amount of other hobbies. I enjoy going on camping trips with my family, hanging out with my friends, seeing all 5 of my siblings, kayaking, fishing, hunting, and going biking through the trails of the Pittsburgh areas and any campground we visit.

I am currently a student at Penn State studying to be a sports broadcast journalist. I can be reached via email at wgs5110@psu.edu
