For my first full week at Penn State, I decided to invite my brother, fall roommate, and my girlfriend up for a weekend on campus and to see Arts Fest. It was different having to fit 5 people in a dorm room, but we were able to manage comfortably. It was also my first full week of classes, so that was a large adjustment.
In my first week of classes, waking up on time was most definitely a struggle. I learned how much of a necessity it was to set four to five alarms rather than just one. I found myself hitting the off button on my one alarm and ended up dozing off. A couple of days that really hurt because I was late to classes and missed out on lectures. I was able to solidify a schedule for sleep, work, and free time. I learned that lunch and a nap right after class was just what I needed before I would go to the HUB to study and get work done. I would then go and get some dinner and have free time for the rest of my night before reading a chapter of the book I am currently reading and heading to bed.
After class on Friday, I went back to my room to meet my brother, best friend and girlfriend. We DoorDashed Applebees and ate in the room. After we ate, we decided to walk around Downtown State College and explore the Arts Festival. We enjoyed the art, music, and atmosphere that the festival had to offer. When we were finally wiped out, we walked around the campus and found our way back to East Halls.
The next day, we went to Bald Eagle State Park and spent the day at the lake. We got lunch, had a picnic, swam in the lake, and went fishing for the day before I had a sendoff for my guests for the week. My brother said that he will definitely be returning to visit me this fall, and I will be looking forward to this until the day he comes back.
