Orbital Evolution of Planetary Systems
Systems of extra-solar planets orbiting other stars have surprised with their diversity in orbits and their dramatic differences from the Solar System. We believe that many of these systems have undergone orbital evolution from the orbits they formed on to those that we observe today. The student will model processes of orbital evolution using computer simulations and compare to observed planetary systems.
