Bioprocessing and Membrane Technology Lab, Vaccine Purification
Life-saving vaccines have been developed to provide protection against a wide range of bacterial and viral infections, including Covid-19. The widespread distribution of these vaccines requires the development of low-cost manufacturing processes. Our lab is exploring the use of membrane systems for the purification of a variety of vaccine candidates, including mRNA vaccines (part of a collaboration with Moderna), live attenuated viral vaccines (part of a collaboration with Merck), and polysaccharide conjugate vaccines (part of a collaboration with Pfizer). Students will have an opportunity to learn about vaccines, bioprocessing, and membrane separation technology.
