Miniature Golf in the Library

The Lee R. Glatfelter Library holding the third annual miniature golf open by the fictional Putt-Putt Golf Association (PPGA). Teams of up to four players can complete all holes during the designated time. Each hole is sponsored by a student-led club or student-interactive department with chances to win some swag and the rights to brag based on their score.

The course is open and FREE to all Penn State York students, faculty, and staff. Have fun playing the links in the library while learning a little more about your campus!

Breaking the Wheel

Officer Kelly Bartos and Counselor Sarah Bender team up with the York YWCA to hold a workshop for Penn State York students, faculty and staff about the physical, social, and psychological effects of domestic violence.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month as well as National Depression Awareness Month. Please join us in a frank discussion about these topics as it relates to power and control. Learn what can be done to recognize the cycle, seek the resources to help, and break the wheel! Talk with experts about the signs and what can be done. 

The presentation will last approximately 45 minutes and food will be served afterward.

Joseph Bathanti

Joseph Bathanti is the former Poet Laureate of North Carolina (2012-14) and recipient of the North Carolina Award in Literature. He is the author of twenty books, including award-winning novels, volumes of poetry, a short story collection, and memoir.

Even though Bathanti claims Half of What I Say is Meaningless (the title of his memoir), EVERYTHING he writes is worth experiencing.

“What’s the Buzz? Exploring the Birds and Bees at Nixon Park” is the first program in the Spring 2023 Conversations in Teaching Colloquia, sponsored by the Penn State York Faculty Affairs Committee.

Dr. Santiago-Blay will discuss several topics of historical and scientific interest, including the fascinating case of Mr. George Miller and his contributions to the natural history of York County. Dr. Blay will also provide an update on his investigations of another ornithologist, the infamous Nathan Leopold, specifically his life in Puerto Rico after his release from prison in 1958. Finally, Dr. Blay will give a brief update on his projects at Nixon Park, including bees, redbud trees, and lichens.

This popular event, sponsored by the Penn State York Tabletop and Roleplaying Gaming Club and the Lee R. Glatfelter Library, is now held once a semester. The event is open to all Penn State York students, faculty, and staff and each person attending may bring one guest.

Come for the games, pizza, and over $350 worth of prizes! This semester the Blue and White Society, Student Government Association, and the College Blues Club also provided prizes in order to promote their organizations.
