Painting and photography are more than artistic skills for me as it motivates me to learn and be creative, and most importantly, to enjoy the beauty of the world.
I’m from a beautiful small town in China where peoples there herd livestock for their living. The beauty of the landscapes in my hometown breeds my interests in art as an inspiration source for my painting and photography and have ultimately shaped my interest in Chinese culture, leading to the creative work I engage in. The beauty of the landscapes evokes emotional reactions. Photography, which helps capture the moments, builds an aesthetic formality of reality of color, line, and texture, a symphony for the eyes. Through my ability to make appealing and fairly original photographs, and being persistent in landscapes, I obtain an excellent visual imagination, which is vital in the style of photographs and Chinese classical paintings I made.
For the Chinese classical paintings, they originate from Chinese Shui-mo (water and ink) plants painting tradition. Such a style has influenced my artistic taste in photography. But as I live in an era filled with various images of different artistic currents and popular culture, I made different and diverse attempt of my works. When I started working in colored pencil medium, I realized that it is a more meticulous process of its execution that is entirely different with Chinese Shui-mo paintings. The figure drawings, as my exploration of the field of colored pencil techniques, symbolizes a brand new start in the art for me.
Painting and photography which are indispensable in my life, support me when I am strangled hard by the pressure of life and traumas. I am addicted to drawing and photography from a very young age, and I will carry them into my whole lifetime. They have always been a significant outlet of creativity and stress-relief for me.
