Game informer is a magazine about video games for gamers who are looking to find out what is going on in the gaming world. It shows many thinks like overviews of popular games and what events are coming soon that people can watch on twitch or attend in person. Pretty much all gaming related is in this magazine. While going through the magazine I noticed an ad for the new xbox console that came out this past year. This is the perfect ad to have in this kind of magazine for the audience of gamers and this proves that game informer really knows their audience and caters to them immensely  while deciding what ads to put in their magazine. Microsoft used the appeals of pathos, logos, and ethos as well as using their audiences values and beliefs to help promote their product.

Microsoft use the values of ethos, pathos, and logos to help appeal to their audience. Microsoft is a well known company in the gaming world since 2001 with the first xbox that came out. People know that Microsoft is a reliable company and really enjoy all their products because they are useful and effective in the gaming community. Microsoft used Pathos by having people having fun and smiling while using the new xbox in the advertisement and this will make the audience associate having fun with playing a xbox. Everyone wants to be happy and if having the new xbox will do that then the audience will buy it. Lastly, the logos in the ad is perfect with the area of the magazine they place the ad. It is right in the middle of the magazine so the audience looks at a few games and decides on what they like then they see the new xbox and get to think to themselves how much better their gaming experience could be on the new xbox. Microsoft also used words and pictures that they knew their audience would like to try to entice them to buy the new xbox.

The new xbox is something that all gamers are interested in since its new and better than the old one in almost every way. The ad talks about how it has a lot more processing power than the old xbox which is a way to get people interested to buy the new xbox because most people want the greatest and latest in gaming since gamers think that will make them better at the games they play. The fact that this was in a game informer is perfect because although not everyone games on xbox it is one of the more popular consoles out in the world today. The audience who is reading this magazine will most likely want to see what the new console has to offer and may even decide to spend the $1000 to buy the console if they like it enough. While also advertising the new xbox there is also plenty of games being advertised with the console within the magazine.

Another main appeal that the people who made the advertisement used was the use of the “sleek new design” which will make people more drawn to the console since the xbox before this one was a little bulky and it was hard for it to not be an eye sore in a room. When advertising the xbox they always say that everything is better from the look of the console to the power it can output because of the new technology that is in it. Since gamers always need to best to play the best they will always want their games to run faster look smoother and all in all just experience the new technology that these companies can create.

The audience that Microsoft was trying to appeal to in the Game Informer magazine was perfect and it most definitely made more sales happen over the long run.
