Disney’s Holiday Movies

Hello everyone and Happy Holidays! Welcome to the final blog post of the semester! I have had a great time with this blog all semester. I hope I have enlightened you and taught you a couple things about being a Disney-loving college student. For my final post, I want to share with you some of Disney’s beloved Christmas movies that you can watch during a cold, snowy afternoon.

First up is Frozen which I am sure many of you have already seen. This movie is great for kids of all ages, and it is a movie to watch if you need a good laugh. Olaf and Sven are the cutest characters in this movie, and the story of Elsa and Anna’s relationship is enough to warm you right up on a cold day. Many of you may not know that Disney is also releasing Frozen 2 in November next year, which I am very excited about! Here is a link to learn more about the new movie.

Prep and Landing is another great Christmas movie that will no doubt make you laugh and give you a lot of Christmas spirit. Throughout the movie, the audience follows the story of Lanny, a young elf full of Christmas spirit who wants nothing more than to give everyone the best Christmas ever. Encountering challenges along the way, Lanny fears that he is not a good enough elf to be one of Santa’s Helpers.

Another one of Disney’s classics are The Santa Clause movies. These movies, featuring Tim Allen as Santa Clause, are the essential holiday movies; I mean, come one, you have to watch them at least once a year. These movies refresh the idea of believing in the magic and being kind to everyone – a message that is a very important part of the holiday season.

Finally, Disney’s A Christmas Carol featuring Jim Carrey as Ebenezer Scrooge, is the last holiday movie that you need to watch this season. My favorite thing to do is watch this movie on Christmas Eve! Similar to The Santa Clause movies, this movie will once again remind you of what the holiday season is all about. Being kind and caring, and giving to others is something that we often forget throughout the year, but the holidays are a time of giving and believing and making good.

There is one final thing I want to mention in this blog post, and please don’t hate me for it. I have never seen the movie The Nightmare Before Christmas because I am kind of against it. I mean, is it a Christmas movie? Is it a Halloween movie? No one knows! I have never liked “spooky” movies, and you could argue that this movie is not spooky, but I just feel like Halloween and Christmas should not cross over in any way, shape or form. Skeletons are not the same thing as elves or reindeer and they do not bring me Christmas cheer! Maybe someday I’ll come around to watching this movie, but for now, I’ll stick to the classics.

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday break and come back ready to start the next semester. Have a fantastic holiday! Go home, bake cookies, make come hot chocolate, relax, and watch some Christmas Movies!  Thank you all for joining me on this journey over the past 15 weeks.

See you real soon!

  1. I really enjoyed reading this post! I really enjoyed Frozen, but I am afraid that Frozen 2 will not be as good. Many times it feels like sequels are only generated for the money, and they often lack the vibrancy of their predecessor. I recently saw the two Fantastic Beasts movies, created as spinoffs of Harry Potter, and while they were entertaining, they felt like cheap fan fiction compared to the original movies.

  2. Over the course of the semester, I fully enjoyed your topic of your blog, the fun Disney tips you provided, and your creative writing style that always kept me engaged. It was very creative and mindful for you to write about Disney’s holiday movies during this festive time. My all-time favorite Disney holiday movie were the “Santa Clause” movies. I never watched Prep and Landing, so maybe I’ll just have to check it out this holiday season.
