Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout

Hello everyone, welcome once again to another video game review! This week I took some time and played Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout. This is a silly arcade styled game where 60 people do their best to win different mini-games in order to be the last person standing. This is a really fun and unique experience, especially for those who might not be as used to playing video games.

Starting off with the important stuff, this game costs $19.99 pretty much everywhere. There’s also a deluxe edition that costs $30, but I don’t really think it’s worth it. All you get is some in game currency and three cosmetic sets. As of now you can play this game on the following consoles

  • PC
  • PS4
  • PS5
    • Coming soon
    • Xbox consoles
    • Nintendo Switch

My favorite thing about this game is that there is a pretty good amount of variety when it comes to game modes. There are about 50 different levels and they generally are split into the following categories- Race, Survival, Hunt, Team, and Finals. The developers are also constantly updating the modes so that they don’t get boring. My favorite mode is a race that has a ton of obstacles and traps to make things interesting. If you haven’t passed the finish line within a certain amount of time, or too many people get there first, you’ll lose. Something that I think is unique about this game would be how much replay value there is. The games are so fast paced that you either are winning and want to keep going, or you lose and jump into another game. For me, the thing that kept me hooked was the fact that I needed to win a crown. In this game crowns are earned by beating the other 59 people in your lobby. It’s really just an amazing feeling getting that win for the first time.

Another lovely thing about Fall Guys is the way that it’s targeted towards everyone. No matter your age or level of familiarity with the genre (or games in general), I can say for certain that you’ll be able to get the hang of this game. Honestly, there are maybe 5 things you need to do; use the left stick to move, right to turn the camera angle, press a button to jump, and another so you can dive. It’s very simple.

The cosmetics in this game are actually pretty cool. The combination of the goofy art-style and even goofier clothing items for your fall guy makes everything blend together in a very cute and zany way.

The last thing I’d like to touch on is the absolutely amazing soundtrack. It’s very upbeat and in your face sounding. Although that might not be everyone’s favorite thing, it certainly enhances the experience. Here’s the soundtrack. As you’re jumping around and trying to dodge giant snowballs or are playing 20 v 20 soccer, the punchy electric sounds just make everything feel more vibrant.

Overall this game is fantastic, I can’t really think of anything that’s negative. If you have the opportunity to play it, I think you should. Overall, this game get’s an amazing 10/10. If there’s anything I didn’t cover that you’re interested in let me know! Also, game recommendations are welcome. Have a great day!

  1. Hey Zion! I loved the broad range and diversity of games you review as it shows your breadth of experience with videogames and the versatility of videogames. I found your review of fall guys knockout and emphasis on the soundtrack to be particularly striking as often times, aspects such as the graphics and actual game play is usually highlighted while the soundtrack tends to be overlooked. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Hi Zion, as always I really enjoyed reading your post! This game seems like one that I would personally really enjoy. It reminds me of some of the classic wii games like wii party or the wii island game I would play with my siblings when I was younger. My only hesitation with getting into video gaming is that I don’t want to invest in a console if I’m not sure I really want it. Is there a way for someone like me to test out different consoles or games? I look forward to reading your next post!!

  2. Hi Zion, I honestly think this is my favorite blog so far! Mainly because the pictures are very cute and it seems like a very fun world. I can see why you don’t see anything wrong with the game. I’d definitely love to try it out! I’d like to read more of these blogs.
