The Penn State Altoona Faculty Senate has the following functions:
Legislative Function
To serve as the sole legislative body representing the faculty of the Altoona College as a whole. It submits its actions for approval through the appropriate academic and administrative units to the appropriate committee of the University Faculty Senate, or to the University Senate.
Advisory and Consultative Function
The Altoona College Faculty Senate serves as the organ of the faculty when advice is requested or offered on all matters that may affect the attainment of the educational objectives of the University and/or the Altoona College.
Forensic Function
To serve as a forum for the exchange of ideas among the members of the Altoona College faculty. Members of the Altoona College community who are not members of the Senate have the right to attend Senate meetings as observers and may be granted the privilege of the floor in accordance with rules established by the Senate.
