It was 1A.M. and I had been tossing and turning all night. The last few days of January were winding down and I knew my Penn State decision would be posted by month’s end. I had a feeling that this night might have been the one that I would find out if I was admitted into my dream school. I decided to pull out my phone to check and see if my status had changed and it had! I had finally received my long awaited acceptance. My excitement could not be contained and ultimately all members of my household were awake. The only caveat was, that as a condition of my acceptance, I would have to attend summer session.
This got me nervous. I had always known that it was a possibility but just chose not to think about it until I had to. While I was both scared and anxious to begin my college journey just days after high school graduation, I decided that six weeks of my life was not going to stop me from attending the only school I could think about. I was a Nittany Lion and this was my destiny.
There were numerous factors that made me fall in love with Penn State. For starters, it has one of the best reputations when it comes to job recruitment. Most individuals that attend college do so with the intention of receiving a full time position following graduation. With recruitment of Penn State graduates being ranked so high, I knew that getting a job would be a strong possibility.
The second aspect that made me fall in love with the school was the passion that the student body possesses. Every Penn State student has so much pride for the school, which is extremely obvious on game day. Each student stands in unison to support their team and their school. Not many other universities can claim such intense school spirit. The same can be said of the students at THON. Everyone is there to support one another and it is really awesome to see so many individuals working together for a common cause.
Finally, I fell in love with State College, Pennsylvania. I knew I wanted to go to a school with a college town and State College really is everything I was looking for and more. Since Penn State is located in a rural area, it is nice to have a large variety of stores and restaurants in walking distance. It adds to the many possibilities that Penn State has to offer.
Penn State continues to impress me everyday. I stated earlier, one of the reasons I decided to attend PSU was their second to none job recruitment. I recently was able to see this first hand at the College of Communications Job Expo Career Fair. There were close to seventy companies in attendance, all of which were seeking Penn State students, and this was considered a small career fair. It truly is impressive to see how many companies come out to recruit from this University.
In addition to recruitment, Penn State’s beauty has continued to shine. The campus truly is something out of a picture book and it makes walking to class a lot more enjoyable. I can honestly say I go to the most spectacular university in the country.
Now that you have heard why I chose Penn State, it is your turn to start thinking about the reasons why you too should become a Nittany Lion!
