Atip Lawanprasert

Atip received his BS in Biomedical Engineering with honors from the Pennsylvania State University in May 2017. Atip has previously worked on blood coagulation on materials surfaces and cellular toxicity of nanoparticle formulations in Dr. Erwin Vogler’s lab. In Thailand, he worked at the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) NANOTEC center. There, he investigated the impact of silver nanoparticles and their derivatives on human white blood cells. Following his graduation from undergraduate studies, Atip traveled to Japan’s Kyoto University Graduate School of Medicine, where he worked on machine learning based studies on predicting recovery after spinal cord injury in a macaque monkey model.

In our lab, Atip focuses on exploring the therapeutic and diagnostic utility of novel bio-sourced macromolecules with selective and potent anticancer properties. Additionally, Atip is investigating template assembled emulsions for the image-guided delivery of biotherapeutic cargoes. This ultrasound-mediated drug delivery platform for controlled release is capable of disrupting biofilm on model biomaterial surfaces. Atip has also been continuing work on past nanogel platforms from the lab, expanding the work to other classes of biomolecular and theranostic cargo.
