cha_s23_heindel-library-interiorIn this very rare interior photograph of the Heindel Memorial Library, the remnants of the Olmsted Air Force Base are still evident in the building’s original checkerboard flooring. Visible in the left half of the image, Dr. Charles Townley is helping a student with library research. During the late 1970s, the library housed approximately 140,000 volumes. Dr. Townley spearheaded the library’s renovations in 1981.
