The Deli

Right before break, I journeyed across College over to The Deli to sample their cuisine.  Journey sees like a bit of an exaggeration seeing as I did not have to walk much farther than across the street.  That night my friend and I were starving and the dining halls were already closed.  She recommended that we give The Deli a try.  While neither of us had eaten there before, her older sister, also a Penn State student, recommended it as a great place to get a traditional sit down dinner.  Don’t get me wrong, I love my food fast.  Often, speed is a necessity especially when I only have so much time between my classes.  Although I usually find myself fast walking across campus to make it to class on time, this Saturday night was one of the rare moments when I had the time to expense on a relaxing dinner.

I remember being surprised that when we arrived that there was no line.  Once seated, our waiter confirmed that business was unusually slow for a Saturday night.  The slow night meant that our service was especially attentive and that the food arrived even faster than usual.  After scanning the menu, I settled on the mac and cheese.  It was made with countless different cheeses and a stick-to-your-ribs meal of mac and cheese was just what I was craving.

The mac and cheese at The Deli was hardly a disappointment.  It was ridiculously creamy.  The cheese combination turned the meal into a melty, delicious masterpiece of macaroni and cheese.  It definitely ranks among some of my favorite mac and cheese dishes of all time which is fairly impressive because I consume an inordinate amount of mac and cheese.  I finished my substantial plate in record timing, and was tempted to order another, though somehow I found the self-control to abstain.  I will certainly be making a return visit to The Deli and ordering that delicious mac and cheese again.

  1. Definitely salivating by the end of that. Sounds delicious! We should go some time this semester. The best mac and cheese I’ve had was from a restaurant in Philly called Jones. There are no words to describe how amazing their mac and cheese and the monkey bread are.
