If you asked me what’s one staple every young woman has in their closet, I would say a great pair of jeans that make them feel confident and at least a couple of crop tops. Both of these items tend to be timeless. However, they have evolved. Whether it’s a different name or a different style, the material and goal of the clothing are the same.

Baby Tees, in the same family as crop tops, are one of the hottest trending clothing items of 2022. Most associated with the ’90s, baby tees are shrunken-down versions of regular T-shirts. Worn by several famous women, such as Kate Moss to Buffy the Vampire Slayer, these tops embody affordable but stylish shirts. Dressed up or dressed down and worn by many age groups, these tops target a large market. Especially great for my tom-boy girlies. The best part of these tops is that you can buy them in the kid’s section, or you can DIY, do it yourself, and throw your smaller-sized tees in the dryer several times.

Moving on to jeans, some high, some low, yet they all tend to go. It was weird to think just a few years ago, high-wasted and skinny jeans were all the craze, and now they can be considered a fashion faux. Fashion faux is french for ‘false step,’ faux pas is considered styling ‘mistakes’ or sartorial missteps. For instance, wearing navy and black together, wearing head-to-toe colors, or wearing sunglasses at night is all fashion faux’s. High-waisted and skinny jeans are a new addition to the list of fashion faux. While they are out, in their place, the most popular today are boyfriend and low-rise jeans.

Boyfriend jeans are baggy yet give great curves. One of my favorite styles of jeans is that they usually tend to appear straight-legged and can be cuffed, rolled, or styled with more flair at the bottom. The main objective of these jeans is to give you an incredible “snatch” illusion while still holding great comfort. Like many staples, they can be dressed up or down and look amazing when paired with blazers or heels.

However, low-rise jeans have been available since the 1960s and became very famous in the west in the 1970s. It’s hard to say whether they have gone out of style or maintained relevance over the years because we have seen them pop up in the 90s and the 00s and back in 2020. Many celebrities have made these jeans essential in their wardrobes, such as style icon Paris Hilton, model Emily Ratajkowski, and popstar queen Beyonce. Inevitably everything will evolve, including these pants. While low-rise pants are still very in, they have changed their appearance. We now see them styled with more expansive, slouchier silhouettes, long inseams, and rises that sit underneath the waist—the rethought version for 2022.

For my professional analysis, I will say baby tees will be around for some time. Nevertheless, they may not be here to say. As for boyfriend and low-rise jeans, I can confidently say they are here to stay. As a proud fan and supporter, I deem them timeless.
