Deciding on which movie I should post next was brutal for me because I have so many favorites in different genres.
Which made me think about what makes a movie qualified to be on my hall of fame list.
For me, a movie that I can watch at any time, no matter how many times I’ve already seen it, makes a list. Whether a compelling story or a great plot, if you get goosebumps or certain scenes excite you every time you watch it, it is considered a favorite and makes a list. My second movie that makes this cut is Jerry Maguire, and if you want to understand where this famous line came from in my title, you will have to watch it.
Starring Tom Cruise, one of the most treasured actors of all time. In this movie, he plays a very successful sports agent, well respected, with top clients and a beautiful fiancee. From the outside look, has is living life and has it all. However, something doesn’t feel right in his life, and one night he questions the purpose of his job. He figures out what’s wrong with his career and life and decides to change and do something about it. So, he creates a mission statement, a collection of all his thoughts, and sends it out. Jerry feels relief and gets praise from all of his coworkers. He says what everyone wanted to but didn’t have the guts to do. Sadly, his superiors don’t feel the same way and decide to steal his high-earning clients from him, leaving him with one client. He’s freaking out, and amid everything, he has a full-blown emotional breakdown asking his colleagues to go with him. Crazy idea, yes, but one woman decides to follow him. Her name is Dorothy Boyd. No longer at a respected sports agency, Jerry and Dorothy take his one client and try to rebuild what he once had. Along the way, he faces hardships and figures out what’s essential in his life and, more importantly, who is worth spending his life with.
Jerry Mcquire is a movie with love, perseverance, and comedy. A true testament to achieving anything you set your mind to and standing up for what you believe in. This movie is an example of getting out of your default setting, and I encourage everyone to see it at least once. A compassionate story with many life lessons built into it, Jerry Mcquire makes my movie hall of fame cut.
Good post and media usage. Please watch your grammar usage and sentence structure. For example, this is not a complete sentence: “Which made me think about what makes a movie qualified to be on my hall of fame list.” Points will start getting taken off if corrections are not made. Otherwise, keep up the good work:) – VP
