My first potential idea for this project is lowering the drinking age. Many people push for this because underage drinking is so common that it would be easier just to lower it. 18 is when you become a legal adult, therefore you make your own decisions; however, you cannot buy alcohol until 21, so people obtain it illegally. In addition, the drinking age in many other countries is 18, so the US is inconsistent with the rest of the world.
My other idea for this project is the political divide and the over exaggeration of events in the media. I think this would be an interesting topic to research because I know the country was not always this divided. It would be interesting to research why people’s political views have become so extreme and why neither side has much of an open mind in modern times.
On today’s blog I am going to be discussing one of the best nights in my life–the Era’s Tour. I went to the Era’s Tour on night one of the Pittsburgh shows. My outfit was inspired by my favorite era, which is the Reputation era. My outfit consisted of the following: a black skirt, snake tights, and black boots. I actually saw a ton of girls wearing the same nights, so I made some friends. When I first arrived, there were thousands of girls dressed up ready to trade friendship bracelets. I made some myself, but there were so many people who made way more than me. i honestly don’t know how they had the time, but I really respect the dedication! I got lucky because my friends mom was working inside the stadium, so she got to jump the merch line and get me my T-shirt and blue crewneck. I’m forever grateful for her for that. Somehow, me and my five friends beat the Ticketmaster lottery and all got good seats together for a very reasonable price. After watching the openers, I was so ready to see Taylor that I actually screamed when the clock appeared. Finally, she started singing Miss Americana and the Heartbreak prince, she wore and pink sparkly outfit, and she got everyone so hyped up for the night. I loved every second of every era. My favorite outfit was the sparkly suit jacket that she put on before singing “The Man”. My favorite part overall was when the snake appeared, starting the Reputation era. I went to the Reputation tour a few years ago, and it felt really nice to experience it again. I was especially excited for the surprising songs, and they did not disappoint! I got to hear Mr. Perfectly Fine and The Last Time acoustically. The night ended with lots of confetti and an exhausting walk to the car. I actually don’t think I’ve ever lost my voice that much, but I have no regrets.
On today’s blog I am going to compare Taylor’s sister albums. Both of these albums have a very similar style, but I am going to compare each individual song and see what album I like better!
Track one: The 1 vs Willow–Both of these are solid openers, but I just love The 1. Honestly, it’s one of my favorites off of Folklore of I have to pick it. (Point for Folklore)
Track two: Cardigan vs Champagne Problems–Although I do love the Folklore trilogy songs, Champagne problems is honestly unbeatable because of the storyline and piano. (Plus I have amazing memories screaming this song with my best friends at the Era’s Tour). (Point for Evermore)
Track three: The Last Great American Dynasty vs Gold Rush–Honestly this wasn’t a hard choice for me the Last Great American Dynasty is a 10/10 perfect song in my eyes. (Point for Folklore)
Track four: Exile vs Tis the Damn Season–Unpopular opinion I don’t like Exile, so Tis the Damn Season automatically wins this round. (Point for Evermore)
Track five: My Tears Ricochet vs Tolerate It–I love both of these songs so much but My Tears Ricochet has one of best melodies out of all her songs. I also loved how dramatic her performance was at the Era’s Tour. (Point for Folklore)
Track six: Mirrorball vs No Body No Crime–This was another easy choice for me because I absolutely love No Body No Crime. I think it’s super different and has a very interesting storyline and sounds like a movie soundtrack. (Point for Evermore).
Track seven: Seven vs Happiness–Seven was my absolute favorite song junior year of high school so obviously I have to pick it. I like it because its about nostalgia and has a sweet melody. (Point for Folklore).
Track eight: August vs Dorthea–I honestly feel like these songs are about equal, but I think August is just slightly better. (Point for Folklore).
Track nine: This is Me Trying vs Coney Island–This was an easy choice for This is Me Trying because one of my private stories is named after it and I find it extremely relatable. (Point for Folklore)
Track ten: Illicit Affairs vs Ivy–I LOVE Illicit Affairs! It’s one of her most dramatic songs and I live for it. (point for Folklore).
Track eleven: Invisible String vs Cowboy Like Me–Again, I feel like these songs are even, but I think invisible string is such a cute song. (Point for Folklore).
Track twelve: Mad Woman vs Long Story Short–I think Long Story short is better because it’s differently and I always found Mad Woman a bit boring. (Point for Evermore).
Track thirteen: Epiphany vs Majorie–I love Majorie because it’s about losing a loved one and I can relate to it. (Point for Evermore).
Track fourteen: Betty vs Closure–Betty is my favorite song out of the trilogy and one of my favorites off the whole album, so I have to pick it. (Point for Folklore)
Track fifteen: Peace vs Evermore–I like peace better because it honestly says a lot about why her and Joe’s relationship ended, and I find it really interesting. (Point for Folklore)
Track sixteen: Hoax vs Right Where You left me–I LOVE Right Where You Left me. It’s definitely one of her best breakup songs and I know every word. (Point for Evermore).
Track seventeen: The Lakes vs It’s Time To Go–I know it’s not super popular, but it’s time to go is honestly one of my favorite songs because it’s about moving on to better things and I love the message. (Point for Evermore).
Totals: Folklore 10 points and Evermore 7 points!

Today I’m going to be ranking Taylor’s first album based on my personal opinion. I like all of her songs but some stand out more to me personally.
One of my favorite Ted Talks is entitled “The Unstoppable Power Of Letting Things Go”. A woman talks about how she left a 12 year relationship because she wanted more. She wanted marriage, but the man she was with kept making excuses. She learned to detach and let go and start a new life. It was a huge step, but her life changed for the better. She met her husband throughout this experience. If she didn’t take the risk, she would’ve been trapped in her old relationship still. I love this Ted Talk because it explains that you can appreciate the past without dwelling on it. She explains that you should not take things personally and if someone else is not giving you what you want, it’s their problem.
For my Ted Talk I would like to talk about the evolution of beauty standards in women. People are harsh judgers of how women look and the “ideal” body type has changed over the years. I find this interesting because the beauty standard for men has not changed to this level.
On today’s blog post I will be giving a quick rundown on how Taylor Swift got famous. It wasn’t Kanye!
Taylor Swift was born in a small town in right here in PA in 1989 (hence the album name). Taylor always had an interest in country music starting at a young age. At only 14, she signed a deal with Big Machine Records. She wrote her first official album as a high-schooler. It only blew up at the ripe age of 16. She started off as a country artist and she was already well known before becoming a pop star. Some of her most recognizable songs off her first album include “Should’ve Said No”, “Picture To Burn”, and “Tim McGraw”. She had a thing for writing about high school boys that gave her a hard time, which led to some of her most iconic female rage anthems. In 2007, she won the best new artist American music award. She has a natural born talent for singing and songwriting. Her second album is Fearless and some of the songs on there really blew up such as “Love Story” and “You Belong With Me” which are still fan favorites to this day. She was only 18 but already a seriously well known artist. As time went on, Taylor only gained more and more fame; however, she had an era where she had a lot of haters (the reputation era). Taylor created some of her most powerful, iconic songs during her Reputation era. The hate only made her a more confident artist. In the COVID era, she released two sad albums called folklore and evermore. The songs were not super mainstream, but some of the biggest fan favorites. These albums strengthened swiftie’s passion for her music because of how relatable her newer songs were. Of course we cannot forget her iconic Era’s tour that is still going on well over a year later. This tour has over 1 billion dollars in revenue, making it the highest grossing tour in history! Taylor is by far the most popular artist today and she has come such a long way since her country era. Plenty of old fans still love her and she collected many more fans throughout her journey. Personally, I became a serious swiftie during the 1989 and reputation era. Overall, her journal inspires many young artists, specifically females with a passion for music.
Thank you!
I thought the writing of the speech was pretty easy because we already had to do the elevator pitch. I just had to do some slight research, so I could come up with more details. The peer revisions also helped a lot when it came to figuring out what I needed to change. When it came to recording, it was hard to find a good speaking pace that would stay in the time requirement, but would not be painfully slow or too fast that no one can understand. It took a few tries to record because I honestly didn’t realize I wasn’t actually recording the first two times. Then, I started to trip up some of my words. Personally, I would’ve preferred to present in front of the class, but it was a new experience. I think my speech could’ve been better, but also could’ve been worse. I hope everything goes well with the link.
