Lady Lions Volleyball Improves Record After Big Wins

Lady Lions volleyball defeated non-conference opponent Hollins University on Friday night (9/29), winning all three sets (25-12, 25-20, 25-21) to improve their overall record to 6-8.

Sophomore Lauren Diller led all players with 13 kills, as her junior teammate Kelsey Bristol had a team-high 22 digs. Sophomore Josie Stovall and freshman Velanna Skirpek each finished with six kills. Lauren Moran had a match-high 23 assists, as Altoona native Nicole Kiser recorded 10 digs. With this win, Penn State Altoona has won their first match in the new Adler Arena, and is on a four-match win streak.

They then played a double-header on Saturday (9/30), winning against both their conference rival Penn State Behrend (3-2) and non-conference opponent Wilkes University (3-1). These wins once again improved their record, bringing their overall to 8-8-0, and their conference record to an impressive 4 wins and 0 losses.

The Lady Lions will be home Tuesday, October 3 at 7PM against conference rival Mount Aloysius College, giving them a perfect opportunity to tip the scales and bring home another W for Penn State Altoona. All are welcome to come out and cheer the girls on as they continue in what’s shaping up to be a very promising season.
