AMCC Best of the Rest: PSUA Athletes Named

Four student-athletes from Penn State Altoona were nominated for the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Player of the Week. Although they were not selected this week, their accomplishments for Penn State Altoona’s sports programs are worth mentioning.

 

MEN’S GOLF- Sophomore Payton Guelich led the Lions this past Saturday, Sept. 1 , shooting 77 on the par 72 course. He tied for eighth place out of 84 golfers at the Pitt-Bradford Invitational.

 

 

 

WOMEN’S SOCCER- Freshman Sadie McConnell scored her first collegiate goal in a 4-0 win over Wilson last Friday, Aug. 31.  Sadie followed that up on by assisting on the Lion’s lone goal in a 1-1 tie with Cairn on Saturday, Sept. 1.

 

 

 

WOMEN’S TENNIS- Freshman Jessica Stevens recorded her first collegiate win this past Saturday, Sept. 1, against Geneva. Stevens defeated her opponent in the No. 1 singles slot by a 6-2, 6-1 decision.

 

 

 

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL- Kelsey Bristol started her senior season off well in the Gettysburg College Battlefield Classic this past weekend, Aug. 31- Sept. 1. Bristol recorded 35 kills, 28 digs, and 39 points while adding three aces, three assists, and a solo block. Bristol was named to the All-Tournament Team for her impressive performance throughout the weekend.
