Project Summary

Overview

Our sponsor has presented us with the challenge of enhancing CANN-DIR, a drug interaction tool that helps patients and healthcare professionals identify potential interactions between cannabinoids and existing medications. The key challenges facing our team include streamlining the user interface, ensuring ADA compliance, and developing a more effective analytics tool, all while ensuring the accuracy and currency of the database

Objectives

The objectives of the project were to improve the user experience by adding new features that can
make CANN-DIR a more capable tool and fixing inconsistencies across the site that were left over by
previous developer groups

Approach

• Customer Needs and Concept Generation: Reviewed CANN-DIR to identify areas for improvement,
including user experience and functionality. Brainstormed and selected new features such as social
media integration and ADA compliance.
• Research and Data: Analyzed patents, products, and user behavior data to ensure innovative and
effective enhancements.
• Testing and Results: Developed a prototype for testing, conducted thorough testing, and analyzed
improvements, resulting in increased engagement and enhanced performance and user experience.

Outcomes

• UX and Accessibility: The improved CANN-DIR platform
features a user-friendly interface and responsive design,
ensuring easy access to information about drug
interactions. ADA compliance enhances accessibility for all
users, including those with disabilities.
• Enhanced Analytics and Info Presentation: Advanced
analytics provide valuable insights into user behavior,
enabling data-driven improvements. Formatting
enhancements also improve clarity and conciseness,
aiding users in understanding cannabinoid treatment
information.
• Enhanced User Engagement and Site Performance:
Enhanced user experience and accessibility are expected
to increase user engagement and improve site
performance. Optimized analytics enable data-driven
decisions and efficient management.
• Increased Collaboration and Awareness: Social media
functionality fosters collaboration and raises awareness,
leading to increased adoption of the CANN-DIR platform.
