What is GSL?

Global service learning (GSL) is a unique education style that combines travel, community service, and of course, learning. The mixture of these three components allows students to experience different cultures at their roots, to touch where history has taken place, and to help make the future just a little brighter for that location.

GSL can be a very reciprocal endeavor. Not only do students learn from their host city and leaders, but they have the opportunity to return that favor back to those people, leaving their own personal mark on the community in which they serve.

GSL forces students to think outside of the confines of their usual mindset. Placed in new environments, students must begin to think about others as well as themselves, and how they must all work together to make their communities open to change and diversity.

Our programs strive to practice strong GSL tactics to give students a well-versed understanding of the world around them, in hopes of creating more empathetic, compassionate global citizens.
