PAS 8: Rio from a Different View
Join me, and you will learn more about tourist attractions in my home city, Rio de Janeiro. By the end of this series, you will love Rio as I do, and I am certain that in your next college break your bags will be ready to make a visit! Who loves to freedom, the sky, and isn’t afraid of heights? If so, this time I won’t depict a tourist attraction, but an activity that is a must go to adrenaline junkies!
One of the best ways to experience the mesmerizing city of Rio is to traverse the skies to enjoy an aerial view. Helicopter tours might be costly and boring compared to the activity that awaits you. Paragliding or hang gliding in Rio is a bliss for thrill-seekers. And the best part is that anyone can enjoy a hang gliding stint as an experienced and qualified pilot goes with you.
Hang gliding over Rio is an unforgettable experience par excellence: emotion and wonder guaranteed! In total contrast to the liveliness of a city that never sleeps, hang-gliding offers the calm necessity for dreaming and an inimitable sense of freedom. The pleasure of flying lying down, hanging under the canvas, with your face in the wind!
The irresistible impression of belonging to the clouds of birds nesting in the immense forest that surrounds the city ad whose sometimes perceptible song adds to the magic of the moment. the altitude allows you to see at a glance the beauty of the area: an infinitely generous nature that serves as a setting for a city as bold as it is diverse. The opportunity to enhance your holiday album with exceptional views and to offer your memory an unforgettable memory.
The most beautiful area to jump is from “Pedra Bonita” – translated to ‘beautiful rock’. The flights usually take between 7 to 20 minutes. Thus, from my experience, the best days to fly are those that are sunny, and those following the passage of a cold front, so you get the best view and maximize the chances of a long flight, respectively.
The flight offers a lifetime experience to catch the rising up-currents; see Rio’s movement like tiny ants. Plus, it also offers the opportunity to discover the city’s most beautiful sites and monuments (some cited in my other PAS posts) from a completely new angle. It is ideal to enjoy the majesty of the Sugar Loaf, the hill of the Two Brothers, and the magnificence of the Christ of the Redeemer, or the natural beauty of the Rodrigo de Freitas lagoon, Ipanema and Copacabana beaches. A succession of wonders in a breathtaking panorama.
