Catchment Area


One of the key goals of Penn State Cancer Institute is to reduce the burden that cancer places on our communities, especially among particularly vulnerable or susceptible groups.  The Office for Cancer Health Equity meets this goal through community engagement for research, education, and outreach, especially within the 28-country Penn State Cancer Institute community, or “catchment area.”

Initiatives


The Office for Cancer Health Equity is passionate about community engagement through initiatives including Cancer Navigation and Survivorship Network (CaNSuN), the Hispanic/Latino Advisory Committee, the Community Health Worker program (ROAR), and others. These initiatives remove barriers to care across the cancer continuum by directly addressing the unique needs of residents and patients.

Penn State faculty and staff can use resources provided by the Office for Cancer Health Equity in their own research and outreach efforts. The Office provides education and training opportunities, catchment area data, and other important resources that can support the Penn State research focused on eliminating disparities.
