Call For Artists

June 6, 2018 by dkt10

Pennsylvania visual artists – your creativity is called upon!

Center Stage Arts in Health seeks ongoing submissions of work samples from artists who work in various media to be considered for future commissions or purchase of artwork. We seek art that will support the well-being of our healthcare community.

We strive to create a welcoming and inclusive environment reflective of the diversity of people and communities that Penn State Health serves. We display art that is created by a diverse set of artists. Our art is restorative, accessible, timeless, celebratory, multi-sensory and multi-dimensional providing beauty, hope, comfort, and joy. It is intended to engage patients, family members, and staff of all ages and diverse backgrounds. We welcome artwork that tells the stories of our local areas and their legacies, histories, and contributions. Artwork that is representative and inclusive of the diverse cultures, races, and places of our region is encouraged. We invite artists to submit both representational and abstract interpretations in all media.

To submit work:

  • Email 3-5 images of your work, including dimensions, to centerstage@pennstatehealth.psu.edu.
  • Describe your artistic experience and the medium you use.
  • Please share how you are linked to Pennsylvania or Penn State Health.
  • If you represent diversity, please self-identify if you wish.

If your work is a fit, Center Stage Arts in Health will add you to our database of artists who provide commissioned work for the health system.  We will contact you for details including cost estimates and timelines.

All questions concerning this ongoing “Call for Artists” can be emailed to centerstage@pennstatehealth.psu.edu.

Arts in Health Training

As the field of arts in health grows and professionalizes across the country, Center Stage offers training to welcome and prepare PA artists to work in hospitals. Thanks to a grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, we have developed an online, asynchronous, free course through the Penn State Health System. Although this training is most relevant for artists who work or will work in-person in our healthcare setting, any Pa. artist is welcome and encouraged to complete it. Upcoming sessions: Sept. 9 – Nov. 8, 2024 Please register with aolivera@pennstatehealth.psu.edu. Space is limited.
